Posted By: Bill H Fri, Sep 28, 2018 This could depict the Goddess of Mercy, called Guanyin in China, who is considered by many devotees to be an avatar of the Mortal Buddha, or Bodhisattva, Avalokiteshvara. Guanyin typically has a small image of the Bodhisattva in a diadem worn in her coif, which attribute appears to be present here. |

Posted By: Gregory Sat, Sep 29, 2018 This looks very Chinese to me. It is indeed a classical depiction of Guanyin, Buddhist Bodhisattva of compassion. There are many heads of statues that are fakes. I cannot tell if this is an authentic antique or not just from photos. That said, it is quite beautiful. |
