Hello!

Does anybody know what language this is?
It is part of a Japanese buddhist scroll.

This is a Siddham script. Siddham script or 梵字 (Bonji) was introduced to japan in the 9th C. by
the Japanese Buddhist monk Kukai and have been used to write sutras. Still practiced In the Shingon and Tendai Buddhism.
On the picture there are 8 letters arranged on a dial could be the representants of the 8 guardian deities of Buddhism - it is just my assumption because I can not read the letters.

With regards,
I.Nagy
