Subject:Chinese Archaic Bronze Ding Taotie
Posted By: Frederic H Wed, Jun 13, 2018 IP: 24.116.236.242

I bought what looks to be a Chinese Bronze ding, archaic style with Taotie Masks at an estate sale in Santa Fe, NM. It looks very similar to one on offer for auction 25 October, 2015 at Joel Leonard Auctions in Australia Titled: A CHINESE ARCHAIC BRONZE LI-DING (FOOD VESSEL), LATE SHANG/EARLY WESTERN ZHOU, 12-10TH CENTURY BC. I have no expertise in bronzes. Is mine a reproduction or a later copy? Mine looks to have been repaired and patched on the bottom (photo) at one time. Any information or opinions would be appreciated. Mine is also 22cm high link: https://auctions.leonardjoel.com.au/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=LJ8080+++++3+&refno=40371724&saletype=
