Subject:Wedding Basket? - beaded lid
Posted By: Lawrence Lewis Thu, Apr 19, 2018 IP: 196.54.41.34

Hi, I believe this may be a lid from a wedding basket, but maybe not! ...the piece measures about 11" in diameter and the dome is about 4".

It was sold to me as a hat, but I'm pretty sure it isn't a hat unless there's an inner piece missing.

The beaded kylin is worked on a piece of brown velvet and the outer border is made up of small white glass buttons.
The body of the piece appears to be made from rushes that have been lacquered and stenciled on the outer surface.

Any comments/input/criticism appreciated!

cheers

Larry
