Subject:Request Help Identifying Japanese Cloisonne Charger
Posted By: RFM Tue, Apr 17, 2018 IP: 2601:281:c202:b68a:1

Greetings,
Respectfully request any knowledge of this very large Cloisonne Charger. It's not marked. It has unusual geometric designs which are a bit odd. It seems to be quite old. Thank you for looking!
cheers!

An older "Doro Shippo" charger. Seems to be in nice condition, with no enamel loss. The geometric patterns are often referred to as "brocade" patterns, as it is believed the Japanese enamel artists that produced these wares borrowed popular fabric designs in order to create the dense fields of small wire motifs required to hold the low-fired enamels onto the base. Also hence the - literally - patchwork design in the border.
