Subject:Japanese Vase signature & style
Posted By: Anne Hines Mon, Apr 16, 2018 IP: 2a00:23c4:1002:fa00:

Hi All

I have a large Japanese vase which appears to have a signature in a banner to the back. I would appreciate any help as to what this says and also what type of Japanese pottery is this and does it have any age. I stands around 13.5 inches high.

Anne

It looks loke a Satsuma-like vase, post 1940.
The characters in the banner read: 皿番組, which is tranlated as: Sara bangumi, which is a kind of puzzle for me. Bangumi means program, but Gumi seems to mean: association or group.
So likely: Saraban group.
Regards,
Martin.
