Subject:Jiaqing Plate ?
Posted By: Gary Summers Tue, Apr 10, 2018 IP:

I bought this plate in Beijing in 1992 in a government approved shop (red seal). Now trying to identify its age and authenticity. I believe it's from the Jiaqing dynasty (1796-1820), would appreciate any input.

Now listed on Ebay, if anyone's interested.

The mark on your dish is consistent with Jiaqing period marks illustrated by sources including Tony Allen's latest book, "Allen's Antique Chinese Porcelain -- The Detection of Fakes" and a 2006 Mainland-published Chinese-language compendium of historical Chinese porcelain markings. I have Jiaqing B&W dishes in a similar pattern with the same kind of marks in my own collection.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Thanks very much Bill for confirming my limited research capability. I bought the plate in Beijing as a purely decorative piece, as it has been safely stored away for far too long I thought I'd sell it on to someone who can appreciate its charm. | Associations | Articles | Exhibitions | Galleries |
