This figure is not Chinese, but Japanese Satsuma-like ware.
The mark reads: Kinkozan 錦光山 Zo 造 = Made by Kinkozan. The 山 "zan" character is written like a mountain, which is Yama in native Japanese (KUN-reading), but Zan in Chinese Japanese (ON-reading).
This Kinkozan mark is often found on pieces from around 1920-1925. See also my picture.
Regards,
Martin.

Hi, this is a Japanese figure of an immortal. Not sure which immortal, looks to be from early 1900's.

I believe this may be an image of Daruma, the Bodhidharma, known as 'Damo' in China. You'll see some images at the link that may convince you.

The Bodhidharma was an Indian Buddhist monk who proselyted Eastward, leaving in his wake the form of meditative Buddhism called Chan in China and Zen in Japan. His Indian features have become exaggerated in depictions of him, such as seen here in the bushy brows and large piercing eyes.

Best regards,

Bill H.
