Subject:Pls help...

Glass paper weight on wood base mount, with inside-drawn erotic imagery. Bearing inscription and seal. Any idea on provenance and value? Any help given is very much appreciated.

The apparent Chinese characters need to be rotated 90-degrees to the right to be read properly. Then they can be discerned to read from the right in two lines, first with an apparent artist signature of 京王神圖 (Jing Wang Shen Tu) - Painting by Jing Wangshen. The bold characters beneath are 島女 (Dao Nu) - Island Women. I can't make out the red seal.

The artist seems to be in touch with elements of the traditional Chinese painting style, but overall this still appears to be a mid-to-later 20th century article, in my opinion.

Best regards,

Bill H.

In my interpretation the inscription reads,
瓊島神女 - Goddesses of Qiongdao (Hainan)
(Qiongdao 瓊島 in new abreviated form 王京島 is the another name for Hainan Island)
As Rat commented it, it is a Chinese kitsch.

With regards,
I.Nagy
