Subject:Gold & Black Lacquer Screen
Posted By: Daniel Tue, Mar 13, 2018 IP: 2001:569:7012:a900:7 I have a screen that I am interested in getting some information on as my research has really drawn me to an end. I believe it is Chinese from the style and design but I have been wrong before. It's not a standard sized screen but somewhere between a table sized and a full sized which I haven't seen any other examples of in my searching. The total size is 3' high and each panel is 8" across (x6 coming to 48" across when together). Only one side of the screen is painted with this gold & silver overlay design and wonderful script (poem?) along the top and bottom. The opposite side is solid black. I have attached the seal & further information I assume is attached in this area with a running script which I am hoping someone here can read/understand and that it explains the scene & what the clerical(?) script is about. Any dating estimates for this piece would be greatly appreciated. I haven't been able to find much in the way of comparables especially to this size and the ones I have found are usually much more profusely decorated. Thank you for any information any of the experts can provide for me so I can continue on my research! I appreciate all the input! |
