Subject:origin of paintings of Vishnu avatars
Posted By: manuD Fri, Mar 09, 2018 IP: 82.234.79.138 I have found these two pictures; which I believe represent avatars of Vishnu, Matsya (with a fish tail) and Varaha (boar). These are paintings on transparent cellophane paper. There are traces of foxing on the back of the frames, so they must be old. Would they be sold as souvenirs or for purpose of worship, or just as art? And where would they have been made? |
