Posted By: Tom Aspden Fri, Feb 16, 2018 IP: 87.114.225.63

I found this cane in an antique shop this week and i realised that it had a signature on it and i wondered if anyone knew what it said?

Can send another picture of the carving if required

Reading,
奉 ― Votive offering (In cursive style)
The two subsequent lettersare are Sanskrit letters

Your object is a pole、 called Tōba (塔婆)
The Tōba is a long votive pole which is placed to the side of a tomb in Japan after memorial services.
On the top with the 奉 character, followed with Sanskrit inscriptions.

With regards,
I.Nagy
