Subject:Chinese Bronze Rhinoceros
Posted By: cbray0908 Sat, Feb 10, 2018 IP: 24.22.34.9

Hi everyone!

I recently got a probably fake Chinese bronze rhinoceros and I was hoping to get some more information on it!

It has a string like metal inlay(not silver) with bronze dots(the circular dots) and I believe it's machine made, so 20th century?

I tried looking for similar styles on the internet but I'm not finding any results.

Under the greenish bluish layer, there is red powder /clay like substance. Does anyone know how this figure was made?
Also what other signs do you see that proves it to be fake? Any info will be great.

Thanks a lot!!

Yes definitely a replica, not considering as fake. It is fashioned out of the ancient Chinese archaic bronze but the design is incorrect and the patina is man-made.
