Subject:Stone barrel-bead necklace identification help.
Posted By: tzkand Fri, Feb 09, 2018 IP: 24.1.28.13

First off, what an amazing forum. I just spent too many hours going through the archives. I can't believe I have never seen it before. Thanks to all who share their knowledge.

I am seeking opinions as to what these stones might be. I originally thought jade, but the more I looked into it, I don't think so. This necklace was passed down in the family and was part of a large collection including Baltic amber, coral, and other unidentified pieces. The necklace is thought to be acquired in the 60's or 70's. I tested each bead for opacity and they are all opaque. Not the slightest bit of translucence. The reason I am posting it here is that the clasp has an Asian character on it. I thank you in advance for sharing your expertise.

Here are the markings on the clasp. The sterling 925 stamp seems to have a 'W' above it with a right-facing head to the right (with a hat on?). I've never seen it before.

The next image is turned 90 degrees to show what I believe is an Asian character. Maybe an old seal script as some have mentioned to me before. I have no clue. I thank you all for your thoughts.

Where about are you located?
If you would live in Western Canada, I could help you.
This seems to be old jade beads. but it needs hands on to verify
