Subject:Qianlong Bronze Paperweight
Posted By: william Sun, Jan 28, 2018 IP: 66.130.74.157

I am not sure what it is exactly (paperweight or stamp???). The patina doesn't look fake and the bronze looks old. Is it mark and period? Were items like these made during the 18th C.?

I am guessing they're not stamps/chops, because the writing is not reversed and the writing is actually the typical "qian long nian zhi" (qianlong period make) starting from the top right, bottom right, top left, bottom left. Both say the same thing.

You're welcome! Sorry, wouldn't be able to tell you if they are really Qianlong, as I am not versed in bronzes... it does say Qianlong, but of course the mark may be apocryphal as these marks are often used because the piece was intended as "art in imitation of a certain period".
