The mark is Yamaka 山嘉 Zo 造 (Made by Yamaka). Date: 1860-1880.

Yamaka lived in Arita. His work looks a lot like the Hichozan, Fukagawa and Zoshuntei pieces from the same period. He even worked for Hichozan, I have a mark in my collection with: Hichozan - Yamaka Zo (see picture).
2 Yamaka marks are seen in the book of Lord James Bowes: Japanese marks and seals, mark number 108 and 109 (1882).

Regards,
Martin.

The mark (which is upside down) reads 山嘉造。

Somehow, I feel this might be more Chinese than Japanese, but others may have differing opinions.
