Subject:Unknown Seal of Kyoto Artist
Posted By: J. Boussinesq Fri, Jan 26, 2018 IP: 2602:306:36e0:2500:b

The shikishi chrysanthemum painting shown here is from an unknown artist whose seal I can't read or find anywhere. The painting is together with one by Kyoto painter Suiko Fukuda, so probably it is by an early post-war Kyoto artist. But I can't seem to find out who it is and it is really bugging me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The seal reads something like BiYo in Japanese or MeiYu in Chinese.

美與 or 美与. Just two ways of writing the same characters.

Seal reads,
美与 - Miyo
Probably a given name or art-name of an unknown woman
artist.
With regards,
I.Nagy

Dear Mikeoz and I.Nagy,

Thank you for the readings. It does seem to be an unknown artist - of which there are certainly many!
