Subject:Old Blue & White Plate
Posted By: ND Sat, Jan 13, 2018 IP: 173.169.39.52 I have two of these and was told they are antiques. It looks like the design was pressed into them. They are the size of a large dinner plate. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Posted By: Bill H Mon, Jan 15, 2018 The decoration looks to be a transfer-applied version of the "Nanking" pattern. The mark of "Renmin Cichang" (人民瓷廠 - People's Porcelain Factory), with "Jingdezhen" (景德鎮" - the Chinese porcelain-making town in Jiangxi Province) beneath, is one I haven't see before and doesn't seem to be on the gotheborg.com list either. "Jingdezhen" is in seal script (zhuanshu), while "Renmin Cichang" is all in standard script, without "chang" simplified to "厂", the form in use since about the 1950s. Therefore, I would surmise this to be an intermediate mark in use circa 1949 to the early 1950s, before Mainland character forms were simplified and factories were regimented and numbered. |

Posted By: Bill H Wed, Jan 17, 2018 Thanks. I missed it the first time because g'borg did the transcription in Cantonese. At least I think it was Cantonese. Read just like a dim sum menu. |
