Subject:Re: Chinese moonflask vase identification and marking
Posted By: Bill H Fri, Jan 12, 2018
This moonflask is decorated in the doucai (contending colors) palette and has a six-character non-period mark of the Qianlong reign (1736-95). Its foot has been ground unevenly to remove glaze runs and apparently has been dirtied artificially to resemble age. The overglaze enamels in the floral motif fail to achieve the quality of transparency and purity of color that are associated with 18th century examples; see Kangxi cups and Qianlong vase shown below. In my opinion, your vase shown here dates to the late 20th century or subsequently.
P.S. I believe I failed to add an auction result link to my comment on your yellow-ground moonflask with Yongzheng mark, so have pasted it here as well.
