Posted By: david Mon, Dec 25, 2017 IP: 2607:fea8:1d5f:f819:

Hello, Can anyone identify this print and translate the script both on the front of the print and the hand written script on the strip of paper on the back? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! David.

Inscription on the print,
工作 Kōsaku
む春免 (むすめ) musume
濵路 Hamaji
Kosaku`s daughter Hamaji

Names of two characters (father and daughter) from the 19th century Japanese epic novel Nanso Satomi Hakkenden
( Tales of Eight Dogs) by Kyokutei Bakin

Script on the back,
向島雪乃渡し Mukaijima yuki no watashi
Mukaijima ferry boat in snow
My tentative reading of signature,
春玉 畫 Picture of Shungyoku
(According to literature Shungyoku was a disciple of
Katsukawa Shun`ei 1762-1819)

With regards,
I.Nagy
