Presuming the vases are Chinese and not Korean or Japanese, they may be meant to read as Qing Chang Zuo (晴長作), with Qingchang probably being a given name with a literal meaning of 'Clear (skies) forever'. The middle character here can also be the Chinese surname Zhang, though I give that possibility a lesser chance in this instance, since the characters are layered, as if floating into the distance.

The vase is of a quality that was fabricated in pieces and soldered together in China and other spots in Asia during the decades before and after World War II. I found lots of song lyrics but nothing clearly related to brass or bronze with my Google queries using characters and pinyin transliterations. Here are some possibly comparable auction results:

SOLD $60:

SOLD $300:

Best regards,

Bill H.
