Hello
Can anybody identify the artist / signature on this Netsuke?

Looking at the second picture, I get a feeling that we are looking at a Tagua nut carving.
It just does not look like a netsuke

It may be the quality of your photos, but I don't see any Schreger lines. This means the material is not ivory. It might be a tagua nut (aka plant ivory).

The quality of the carving is poor. I wouldn't have known it was a rat without you telling me. Also, I question whether the "signature" is even Japanese characters. It might just be some squiggles.

The quality of the carving of the wrestlers is a little better, but my comments here apply to that netsuke as well.

Let's see what others say.

Cheers,
Stan
