Today a bought a very nice sake set, so I guess it is Japanese. Can someone please tell me more about the markings on the cup and on the box Thank you.Robert

伝統美術   Traditional Art
高級 御酒器 High Qiuality O-sake Vessels
久谷焼    Kutani Pottery
Bottom of sake cup,
久谷     Kutani
(Name of a famous pottery in Japan)

Dear I.Nagy,

Without being disrespectful, but Kutani is generally written as 九谷 (9 valleys). See:

In both cases there are marks displayed like this one here.

Dear Martin,

Thank you for your indication. Kutani is 九谷
and not (久谷)I have forgotten to check the conversion
result.The PC‘s program automatically converses kutani to 久谷.
