Subject:Tongzhi (?) small dish on foot 2
Posted By: Martin Michels Tue, Dec 05, 2017 IP: 84.26.216.123

Hi,
Here is my other Tongzhi (?) dish on foot. Again the mark is unreadable for me, so is this Tongzhi (1862-1874) in your opinion? Dimensions: 4 cm high and 11 cm width.
Any comment is highly appreciated,
thanks in advance,
Martin.

Wil,

Thanks for your reply, I agree poor quality, but I'm glad to hear that it's Tongzhi period.

Martin.

It is now generally accepted that these footed bowls, sometimes called alter bowls are Canton export ware made for the SE Asian Market from around 1870 to 1920. Although the style differs somewhat from ware made for export to Europe, there are many collectors who look for these.
