Subject:1920's Japanese painting of Mt. Fuji, need artist ID!
Posted By: Paul J. Sat, Dec 02, 2017 IP: 2606:a000:6884:8000:

Bought this painting recently and for the life of us cannot get anywhere ID'ing the artist, or anything to do with this painting. Can anyone assist? Any help apreciated! Only info was from seller, that it was probably from the 1920's....

Reading of signature and seal alike,
緑雨 Ryokuu (Spring Rain) - Art -name
The painting (or woodblock print) resembles Western
style sosaku hangas。If I am right, the painter (publisher)`s name is Ishikawa Toraji 1875-1964 (see
Google) who pubished a number of landscape prints
using the publishing name Ryokuu (So-Gashitsu)
Under name "Ryokuu" I could not find another artist
in name dictionaries..

With regards,
I.Nagy
