Subject:Metal square pot
Posted By: James Whittick Sun, Nov 26, 2017 IP: 86.139.160.154

Please can anyone give me information on this metal pot
Two sides have cranes, two sides have bats
I am interested in it's date as it helps me understand where my past family got it but I am also valuing various things as my father past away and I need to catalogue everything for my brothers

In the Chinese culture the symbolic meaning of crane is longevity and the bat is a symbol of happiness and joy.
Japanese approach to bats in art differs, they seldom use them as decorative motif. Therefore, I think your pot
is Chinese.
Chinese reading:
桂齊鑄 Guiqi Foundry
Unfortunately,on Chinese language net I could not find any cue to this name.

With regards,
I.Nagy
