If it was from a shipwreck, all of the ships content would have been heavily documented when it was excavated, and tied in accordance to the ships provenance, giving your claim of it being from a shipwreck, a solid provenance.

The fact this Qianlong style of vase has been recently in the news media and tons of reproductions have been made, plus the quality of your actual vase isn’t near the one recently found, it’s highly unlikely your vase was from a shipwreck or period to the Qianlong era.

There’s like 10000 shipwreck sites in south East Asia alone and approximately only 500 discovered.. if anyone were to find a shipwreck for security it’s better to work on it quietly. Yes this motif on the vase is almost similar to the famous one that was auctioned off.. but the fish is of a different species.. this looks like normal Chinese carp.. the recently auctioned one looks like a gold carp. If you find a recently made one please post the picture here.. I would like to compare the similarity..

Dear Mr Shariff

I collect shipwreck porcelain myself, and there is absolutely no sign of submersion in this piece.

When combined with the snow-white footrim and the sad grubby appearance of the fish, as well as the "off" colours in the floral work, there is little chance of this being anything to do with Qianlong.

Might I ask who represented to you that this was a shipwreck piece? I can see no signs of it here. It might be time for you to demand a refund.

Kind regards
