Subject:Real Qianlong Vase?
Posted By: Michiko Wed, Nov 01, 2017 IP:

I'm pretty sure I bought a copy but liked the design :) Can anyone confirm whether I got lucky and it could in fact be real? Thanks!

Dear Michiko

The oldest that this object could be is early 20th century; the pendants around the top are typical of Republican ware - can you see them? They look like chains of jewellery.

However, the blue decorations look a bit stiff as if transfer printed. If so, then this object would be a lot more modern - would it be possible to have a closer look at the decorations, especially the thin "vines" supporting the flowers?

Kind regards
