Subject:Qi Baishi Scroll
Posted By: CAB Tue, Oct 31, 2017 IP: 76.72.65.95

Would appreciate any information on this scroll. There is some kind of canvas backing (picture #3)
Reproduction or original? What does the writing say? Who is the main in the painting?
Thanks

Reading of the inscription,
偸秘圖 Toumi Tu, Stealing a Secret, Picture
杏子塢老人 Xingzi-Wu Laoren, Old Man of the Apricot Village (One of the art-names used by
Qi Baishi)
Big seal,
Blurred,
Small seal,
斉大 Qi Da One of the many seals, the artist used to use.
About the originality- the worn out canvas backing looks a bit intentional.
Qi Baishi's works have been widely
copied - it is difficult to say anything from the screen.

With regards,
I.Nagy

Imitation more likely that reproduction in this case I think; quality is quite low. Not an original painting by Qi in any event
