Subject:Qianlong tea caddy? "Chinese Lowestoft" pattern
Posted By: JLim Sun, Oct 29, 2017 IP: 101.164.192.17

Dear all

Finally, this antique shop had what seemed to be an 18th century tea caddy of what is nicknamed the "Chinese Lowestoft" pattern. The foot, which again I did not photograph, looks properly 18th century to me.

My only issue with this object is the green "collar" around the neck. Can you see it? I was wondering if this is proper for the period.

Kind regards
J.Lim

The tea caddy appears from the one view, of not very sharp focus,to be a late 18th century Chinese export product. The green foliage around the neck is perfectly proper for that design. Of course, the design has no connection to the small English manufacturer in Lowestoft.
