Subject:Inscription on a Buddha statue
Posted By: Elias Harrison Fri, Oct 20, 2017 IP: 81.39.127.165

Hello,
This may be a long shot, but if anybody could aide me by translating the inscription on my Buddha I would be eternally grateful! The only person I've spoken to tells me it is 15th century and Himalayan but I don't think I can go much further without knowing the inscription.
Thanks for any help at all! Photos on Imgur linked

The inscription on the Buddha statue,
嘉靖八年一月十九吉日造
Made on the Auspicious 19th Day of January
in the 8th Year of Jiangji (1529)

With regards,
I.Nagy

The inscriptions says that it was made on the auspicious 19th day of the second lunar month of the 8th year of the Jiajing emperor (1528), but the figure looks near new to me.

It says something along the lines of "made on the lucky day of the 19th of February in the eighth year of the Jia Jing Emperor (1530).

But I wouldn't take it as telling the truth.

Reading right to left:

嘉靖八年二月十九吉日造
