I think this is Chinese but I have been wrong before. I have searched and searched with no luck findng a piece like this. The top rim appears to be applied sterling silver. It is marked as shown. It measures 4 1/2" tall Thank you for your help!

This is Japanese, the mark reads: Dai Nippon 大日本 (Great Japan) Eiraku 永楽 Zo 造 (Made by Eiraku).
Made by Eiraku Zengoro 12th (1823-1896) or his successor Eiraku Zengoro 13th, I guess around 1890-1910. There's a lot to find on the internet using these names.
Regards,
Martin.

Dear Pat

The right column says "Great Ni Hon" - therefore this object is Japanese. Unless it's a Chinese copy. I do not know anything else about this style of vase.

Kind regards
Jonathan
