Subject:Help with artist name on beautiful Japanese rice paper watercolor
Posted By: JayC Sat, Sep 09, 2017 IP: 71.212.154.129

Hello!

I don't own many Japanese watercolors but I found this one in a box and said "gotta have it!". My photography doesn't do it justice, the colors of the opening (lotus?) bud are fantastic and the wonderful way the artist handled the water droplets is amazing. The calligraphy is also well done...I just can't read it nor can I figure out who the artist is from the three stamps. Any help would be appreciated. (I think I'm going to have to do this in a couple of photo uploads). The piece is about 52" x 24"

Thank you, I. Nagy!

Both for the name and attribution...and for the clarification that the piece is of Chinese origin. Although I initially thought the piece was Chinese, I bought the painting from the wife of a Denver physician who was of Japanese descent...though she wasn't. In any event it was my error to have assumed that the gentleman would not have art of Chinese derivation in his home. Again, thank you!

Now, the search begins...
