Subject:I'm trying to find the name of the maker of this vase??
Posted By: bryan vaughan Sat, Sep 02, 2017 IP: 24.17.28.231 Hello, I have this (I think) Japanese ceramic vase I'm trying to find who made it or at least what the marking reads on the bottom? Any help would be much appreciated?? |

Posted By: Guy Sun, Sep 03, 2017 The signature reads 'Kanzan' (寛山) and I presume that the artist is the important and innovative master potter Shinkai Kanzan (新開寛山 - Kyoto, 1912-?). I'm not a specialist, but this could be a early Showa (pre-War) piece decorated with a seemingly Art Deco inspired pattern. |
