Subject:TIGER STATUE
Posted By: KATHI MANAHAN Wed, Jul 26, 2017 IP: 108.11.52.42

I am looking for any help in identifying the mark; what the item is made of; and estimating the age and value of the statue.
Thank You!!

P.S. I'm not sure the mark is in the correct position. It may need rotated?

Good quality Japanese Meiji era bronze okimono of a tiger with it's original wood stand.

The mark reads 'Genryusai Seiya zô'(源龍斎誠谷造 - 'made by Genryusai Seiya').

Genryusai Seiya was a Tokyo based workshop specialized in high quality exotic bronze models of animals (tigers, elephants, crocodiles, bulls etc) but also human figures and censers, made for the export market, late 19th century (middle Meiji period).

Guy.
