Thanks.

Hi, I will probably be of no help but thought I would share anyway. I believe this is chu nom calligraphy, which I still see practiced by artisans to date. My wife is from Vietnam, so I thought she might be of help. She was unsure, and kind of gave me a look like "how should I know?" Anyway the painting itself looks like the style of Phan Ke An since it is dated 1950. Unsure, but maybe a starting point. Best of luck to you

I wanted to write a follow to my previous post. I saw a sketch by Phan Ke An of Ho Chi Minh that was very similar to the form of your painting, and looking at the related images it showed one with the calligraphy and I assumed it was also one of his paintings. He did not use calligraphy on his paintings from what I can see. It was actually by an artist named Nguyễn Phan Chanh, of the same period. I'm sorry I have been of little help. But maybe Nguyễn Phan Chanh is a good starting point. You have a very beautiful painting and I'm sure one of the experts will be able to help you out.
