Subject:Shi shi dog and Quanyin? Large statue.
Posted By: Splash Sun, May 28, 2017 IP: 98.118.8.51

Hello,
I wonder whether anyone can tell me anything about this statue? It is large- 16" long, 8" wide and 18" tall.
The deep blue eyes are removable and hook Into the sockets. The hooks are made of white clay. .
There is crazing throughout and tiny pinholes. Most of the brown on the piece is dried mud, but when you remove the soil there are some rust type spots. The underside has an old felt cloth glued on which is thin, so I dont really want to remove it unless I have to. Pulling it up A little I can see that the clay us brown and was glazed in the light color. One of the ears has damage and was glued not stapled.
I think this is probably quite new, but haven't had any luck finding anything similar so hoping someone can give me a clue. I think it is Quanyin sitting on the foo dog, though the face is not as rounded as all of the other images of her that I have seen. This face is more masculine.
There is a round stamp on the back, but the it is not legible. Thank you in advance for any suggestions!
