Subject:19th. century woodblock print by Toyokuni 3rd.

I am interested to know the name of the kabuki actor and the date of this tate-e woodblock print signed Kunisada-ga Gatotei (Pavillion of the 5th. ferry).

Your pictures are nearly useless. Often to ID an actor you have to ID the mon on his garment. This is impossible given the pictures.

Prints from the early 1800s have no seals that allow close dating. The best dating we can give is early 1800s unless the actor can be IDed and we know when that play was performed.

Without better pictures we can be of little help.

Cheers,
Stan

Almost impossible to see pics at that size. Can you resubmit them larger?

The print is the left sheet of a kabuki triptych. Shown is the actor Onoe Kikugoro III as Goro Tokimune in the play "Iro ichiza Soga Ooyose" performed at the Ichimura theatre in 1/1829, publisher is Joshuya Kinzo.
