Subject:Chinese Silver(?) Box
Posted By: Peter Mon, May 13, 2024 IP: 178.115.65.54

I've recently acquired a small Chinese hexagonal silver box and would be interested to learn it's approximate age and if it is indeed likely to be of silver.
The underside bears a stamp, which is partly faded.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

This is likely to be a silver alloy with a high silver ratio. The foot bears a "da fu" hallmark of the artisan. He was a chinese silversmith operating in vietnam from ca. 1890-1930. I would tentatively date your item in the early 20th century but, as of now, cannot make any clams regarding its authenticity.

With kind regards

Madria
