Subject:Help identify and date antique Thai Painting/script

In Thailand, Burma and Laos, relatives traditionally presented temples richly hand-decorated books containing the ordination rules for monks whenever young boys in the family reached puberty and underwent the tonsure ceremony when entering the monkhood for a period to live and learn their religion firsthand. Unfortunately, I can't help with the translation, but perhaps others can. Here's a Thai horoscope in the antique style, which I picked up at a Bangkok art show in the early 1990s. The script isn't quite as formal but the painting style of the celestials is somewhat similar. |

Posted By: Paul Sun, Feb 23, 2020 Bill H's example is indeed Thai, but the original poster's is Khmer/Cambodian, which I cannot read. Culturally the same, with the Ramakien (Thai Ramayana) and Theravada Buddhist elements. |
