Weaving time: 2 years Very inticately woven Tibetan style thanka of the Goddess of Compassion. The lovely brocade patterns and jewellery that adorn this serene and beautiful figure, the many offerings placed upon a flower rising from the waves etc. are all woven with careful attention to the most intricate details. The spaciousness of the design gives this tapestry a magical quality. Traditionally woven thankas were used as shrine room decorations, religious offerings etc. and some of the earliest examples date back to the 11th-12th c. Detail: White Tara Portrait |
