Nomads of Tibet and Bhutan

Nomad woman
Phala, Tibet
1997

I spent two months in the summer of 1997 conducting research on the nomads with Dr. Melvyn Goldstein, Case Western Reserve University. In selecting these images, a friend of mine was helping me and, looking at this photo said, "Oh! You must select this one. She looks like she would be lots of fun." Indeed, this woman does display a real cheerfulness in her expression.
