Myriad beetle parts-mandibles, wing covers, antennae, legs-and soaring lyre beetles, all specimens from the collections of The American Museum of Natural History, comprise a gothic cityscape inside the world of a Chinese album leaf. In the west there is an anthropocentric prejudice, while in the East there is a more reverent hierarchy between man and nature. This is illustrated by the use of entomological forms to create a towering and magnificent architecture.
