Guri Lacquer Box

Carved swirling line motif, twining across the entire surface of the cylindrical box and cover. Ten layers of black, red, and yellow lacquers. 

Provenance: Edward Gilbertson Collection (New Zealand), sold at Glendining&Co Ltd (4 Argyll Street, London) in the 1930s.
