This design of the Asiatic Dayflower in a rich palette of variegated gold against a brilliant deep black ground opens to reveal a scattering of fallen leaves on a plain brown lacquer earth ground. The box is bound with silver rims, and is presented complete with suzuri, two brushes and paper knife. Accompanying documentation confirms that it was exhibited in 1936.
