Pakistan, Ancient Region of Gandhara, Kushan period
2nd c. - 3rd c.
Height: 7.6 cm (3 ins)

A small roundel depicting an amorous couple embracing each other and engaged in a kiss. The male figure in his enthusiasm wraps his leg around the female figures waist while she tucks her arm under his and caresses his back. On her arm is a large, decorated bracelet, an interesting and beautiful detail for such a small piece. She wears her hair pulled back and adorned with a large lotus flower. The convex shaped back of the roundel is plain.
