Detail: Wu Changshuo (1844–1927), who excelled in calligraphy, painting, and seal carving, is renowned as one of the last literati of Qing-dynasty China.

He began his career as a provincial official, and became governor of Andong province (now Jiansu province) at the age of 56. However, he resigned after merely a month, and went into retirement.Throughout his lifetime, he avidly transcribed the Shiguwen, a collection of ancient characters from around the 5th century BC, of which elegance he reflected in his works of calligraphy, painting, and seals.

This exhibition, on the 90th year after his death, features his alluring works and commemorates his accomplishments. This also marks the 15th joint exhibition with the Taito City Calligraphy Museum.
