Buddhist Tantric Divinity, Nepal, 19th c.A painting on paper of an unknown tantric divinity, evidently Buddhist. Paper paintings in Nepal were usually confined to Hindu subjects, which accounts for the resemblance of this figure to a Vaishnava theme. Perhaps a convergence of Vaishnava and Buddhist themes is in fact intended. The details of the crown and ornaments are finely painted in gold. height 17"/43cm. width 14"/ 35cm. Price: $1000.
