CULTURES 2016 - BRUSSELS

Dear Friends,

I'm delighted to partecipate to Cultures, the World Art Fair, the new project that brings together AAB, BAAF, BRUNEAF in a shared cultural program. It will be held from 8 to 12 June.

Sculptures from India, Nepal, Tibet will be exhibited along with tangkas, illuminations and central asian artworks and textiles.

Notable a Buddha Shakyamuni , 14th century, of excellent aesthetic qualities and of remarkable size, an early 14th century Vajarasattva among the finest sculptures of the period and a smaller, but not less important, unique six arms Vajarapani, 8th century. From India, a fine stone sculpture of Uma Mahesvara, Pratihara period, 8th century, will be on show.

A rare mandala of Akhshobya, 14th-15th century, a Ming period tangka of Arhat Kanakavatsa, and a portrait of Padmasambhava are notable among the tangkas exhibited. Central Asia, where multicultural influences generated superb art, will be on show with a fine saddlebow in gold and silver repoussé, gold and silver artworks and textiles of the finest weave. Notable a rare hanging piece with marching bulls, reminescent of the Achemenid primeval bovine, a zoroastrian original deity.

I'm looking forward to greeting you at
