Carlo Cristi has lived and traveled in India and Southeast Asia since 1973 and has been active in Himalayan and Southeast Asian art since 1981. ----------------------------------------------------------- Announcement of exhibition : NEW VENUE Gallery Alain Contardo Rue Ernest Allard , 25 Brussels Carlo Cristi will partecipate fpr the fourth consecutive year to Brussels Oriental Art Fair, which will be held from 4th to 8th June 2008. Selected artworks from India, Nepal, Tibet, central Asia and Southeast Asia will be on show with particular accent on sculptures, paintings and textiles. A remarkable group of tangkas and illuminations from west and central Tibet, from 12th to 14th century, will include a Buddha vajrasana, here in display, and a fine Sadaksari, a vibrant Vajrakila and a magnificent Vajrapani. From India, Pala period, a stone Manjushri and a bronze crowned Buddha. Textiles, mostly from central Asia, will be on show in a wide selection of rare pieces from 7th to 12th century. Animals, quite present in textile designs, come in fantastic mounted griffins, abstract horses, rarissime antelopes, embroidered birds. Artefacts from the tibetan empire on the Silk Road will enrich this collection of over sixty artworks.
