Deborah Ashencaen and Dr. Gennady Leonov are well known specialists of Himalayan Art who established their art dealing and research business in 2000.
Gennady is a Tibetologist (St. Petersburg University) and worked in the Oriental Department of the Hermitage Museum for 20 years as Curator of the Prince Ukhtomsky collection of Tibetan Art.
In 1990 Gennady joined Spink and Son, London, where he was researcher and exhibition curator at their Himalayan Art Gallery for 10 years. Gennady is the author of academic articles and Tibetan Art catalogues, and is a contributing author of the exhibition catalogue ‘Wisdom and Compassion: The Sacred Art of Tibet’ (Asian Art Museum, San Francisco).
Deborah graduated from SOAS and the Percival David Foundation (London University) where she read South Asian and Oriental Art and Archaeology. She worked at Spink and Son for 12 years as Departmental Director of the Himalayan Art Gallery. During this time Deborah and Gennady organised six major Himalayan Art exhibitions each accompanied by a fully illustrated research catalogue.
Ashencaen and Leonov work with institutions and private collectors. Some of their clients started their collecting Odyssey with Deborah and Gennady almost 30 years ago.
